A headline came across my news feed this week that the Federal IRS was paying 95K for new hires who are “willing to use deadly force.”  Contrast that with the Texas legislature’s proposal for a border security unit, and you’ll know who cares about you.

The recent headline about the IRS should come as no surprise: “The IRS is hiring special agents prepared to use ‘deadly force’ if needed and is paying up to $95,000.”  The article goes on to say that the job posting is looking for persons with both accounting and law enforcement experience who are able to be on call 24/7 and carry a gun.  

You can say what you want about “taxation is theft” or “but who will build the roads,” but I think even the most reasonable Texans have a hard time justifying tax collectors who are recruited to use deadly force.  While I personally object to taxation on my day job AND my side job, and I object to the wasteful and frivolous use of my tax dollars by the Federal government, I can at least acknowledge that there are some functions of government that require taxation.  They know how much we make and know how much we owe, but if we report it improperly, we’re subject to prosecution, which apparently includes the use of “deadly force.”  

Simply put, they’re willing to kill you to take your hard earned money if you fail to keep up with the ever-changing labyrinth of tax law.  They’re willing to kill you to take your money if you object to the way they spend it.  

Contrast that with a bill that just passed out of the Texas legislative State Affairs committee, HB 20, that would establish a state border protection unit.  This bill prepares the state to enforce immigration laws, something that the Federal government claims is theirs (like the Finding Nemo seagulls… MINE!).  At the same time, the Federal government is either too incompetent to prevent the unchecked flow of people across the Southern border, or else is complicit in the flow.  Either way, Texas is attempting to fill the gap to protect its sovereignty and its citizens.

The Federal government is hiring tax agents willing to kill you.  The Texas government is trying to solve problems in areas where the Federal government has failed to meet its obligations.  When it comes down to it, that’s really all you need to know. 

One thing’s for sure, the current Federal government is against us more than it is for us.  Texas independence through the proposed Texit referendum is the beginning of the change it will take to truly make a difference.
