Water Boards and MUD’s on the lookout for secession

At the Texas Association of Water Board Directors conference last week, our favorite issue made the agenda.  Do these guys know something we don’t?

The Association of Water Board Directors met in Austin last week. The first session was hosted by one of the top lobbying firms in the states and the top legal firm for MUDs here in Texas. It was a legislative preview for this session. One of the sections was giving the directors a preview of the hot issues this session. Here was the slide:

The water board directors are preparing for Texit!

Our readers know that the Partisan advocates for Texit any time we can, but I’ll be honest, we don’t have an “inside man” in the Water Board Association.  Our favorite issue being on their legislative watch list came as a surprise.

Why would lawyers, lobbying firms, and utility districts have Texit on their radar?  We can think of a few possibilities.

One, our message is resonating.  Polls show support for Texit among the voters.  We’re advocating every hour of every day on social media, in person, and by constantly talking to our legislators.

Two, those in the halls of power are talking.  Legislators, lawyers, lobbyists and the like must be either coming around to our argument or getting ready for the public pressure that’s sure to come. Maybe the airplane banners are making an impression.

Regardless of how utility district lobbyists got our issue on the top of their list, it just goes to show that the movement toward sovereignty is not isolated, not “fringe”, and not limited to the TNM.  The movement toward independence will necessarily grow beyond the boundaries and membership of the advocacy groups.  As we become more and more successful, as we get closer and closer to Texit, many will come along for the ride. We got evidence of that from the water board meeting, and I suspect there are many, many other places where the seed of Texan freedom is growing.
