European Independence Movements Unite in Scotland as Texas Watches

Scotland will host a major international conference on October 5, 2024, bringing together 14 pro-independence groups from across Europe. This event will facilitate discussions on progress, foster connections, and strategic planning for independence movements. The countries and regions represented include Greenland, Wales, Ireland, Catalonia, and the Basque Country.

The focus on the rights of self-government and self-determination aligns with the Texas Nationalist Movement’s (TNM) mission. For TNM, the principle of self-determination is crucial, as it is the basis for Texas’ right to govern itself and reclaim its sovereignty. The Edinburgh Declaration, set to be signed at the conference, echoes these sentiments. It underscores the urgency of decentralizing power in Europe and amplifying the voices of regions and nations seeking autonomy or full independence.

Texas, like many regions represented at the conference, faces a constant struggle against federal overreach. The TNM believes that Texas should control its own borders, resources, and political landscape without interference from Washington—for the benefit of Texans alone. The economic case for Texas independence is particularly strong; Texas is the 8th largest economy in the world, and independence would allow it to harness its economic potential fully, free from federal constraints.

The Edinburgh conference demonstrates the power of international solidarity. Meeting like-minded groups and exchanging insights about barriers and successes strengthens the cause for independence. Robin McAlpine, an organizer of the Scottish event, emphasized the importance of showing solidarity and hospitality while creating networks for democratic struggles. This sense of shared struggle and mutual support is vital for any independence movement, including TNM’s efforts in Texas.

Texas must follow a lawful and peaceful route to independence, much like the process discussed at the Edinburgh conference. The Texas Independence Referendum Act (TIRA) is a legislative step in this direction, aiming to give Texans a voice through a referendum. The goal is to transition to a self-governing Texas that steps away from the federal impositions that currently dictate many aspects of life.

TNM remains steadfast in its commitment to political, economic, and cultural independence for Texas. Self-governing would allow Texans to preserve their unique heritage and manage their resources more effectively. The global emphasis on self-determination supports the legitimacy of Texas’ aspirations and strengthens TNM’s resolve to make Texas independence a reality. We must continue to support and advocate for TEXIT, ensuring that our future is decided by Texans, and Texans alone.
