The Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) has been building a foundation for Texas independence throughout 2024, with every victory pushing us closer to achieving our goal. As we prepare for a critical November election and the 2025 legislative session, it’s important to recognize the accomplishments that have brought us to this point and what still needs to be done. The successes this year have positioned us well, but now is the time to stay focused and ensure we’re ready for what’s ahead.
Taking Texit Mainstream
Since the beginning of the year, TNM has secured more than 300 media mentions, reaching a potential audience of 396 million people. Each of these appearances has helped put the message of Texit in front of more Texans, giving the movement an unprecedented level of visibility. The appearance on Dr. Phil Primetime was especially impactful, as it allowed us to bring the idea of Texas independence into millions of homes across the country. The national conversation about Texit is growing, and our media presence is making sure more people are aware of our movement and its goals.
These media opportunities go beyond just public awareness—they’re about ensuring that the message of Texit continues to be taken seriously. The more Texans hear about our cause, the more they understand that independence is not only possible but practical. This growing media attention also reflects how mainstream the discussion of Texas independence has become, as more Texans demand serious consideration of their future outside the Union.
Laying the Groundwork for Legislative Action
One of the key victories in 2024 has been securing political support for the Texas Independence Referendum Act (TIRA). In the March primaries, several candidates who signed the Texas First Pledge won their races, ensuring that we will have strong backing in the Texas Legislature come January 2025. Between 10 and 11 new supporters of TIRA are expected to be sworn in, which will help ensure that the act is filed during the pre-filing period in November. This political backing is a crucial step toward giving Texans the opportunity to vote on the future of their state.
TNM’s influence within the Republican Party of Texas has also strengthened this year. We retained both TEXIT vote planks in the party’s platform, and both the Chair and Vice Chair of the Republican Party are Texas First Pledge signers. This level of support at the leadership level of Texas’ dominant political party is a powerful endorsement of our movement. The fight for independence is no longer on the fringes—it’s being discussed at the highest levels of state politics.
The movement’s appeal continues to grow beyond the Republican Party as well. The Libertarian Party of Texas launched a TEXIT Caucus this year, creating an even broader base of support. These developments show that the desire for independence crosses political lines, with Texans from various political backgrounds seeing the benefits of self-determination.
Grassroots Growth
Building a strong grassroots network has been a priority for TNM in 2024, and we’ve seen significant growth in our county organizations. Currently, 30 counties are in development, with 10 more set to launch before the November election. These county organizations play a critical role in expanding our reach and organizing local support for Texit. The efforts in these counties ensure that the message of independence is being shared with communities all across Texas, from the smallest towns to the largest cities.
Each new county organization represents more opportunities to engage voters, hold events, and recruit volunteers. These grassroots hubs provide a local presence in key areas of Texas, making it easier to organize and mobilize supporters when the time comes to push TIRA through the legislature. The development of these county organizations is about building a movement that’s ready to act at every level of the state.
Building Relationships with Independence Movements
This year, we relaunched the Department of International Engagement under new leadership, with a clear focus on working with other independence movements around the world. The department’s mission is to build relationships with movements that share our goals of self-determination and sovereignty. By engaging with these groups, TNM can exchange ideas, learn from their experiences, and gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that come with the fight for independence.
The Department of International Engagement is dedicated to making connections that strengthen our position on the global stage. Independence is not just a local issue—it’s part of a broader struggle that’s playing out in various countries and regions around the world. By aligning ourselves with other independence movements, TNM is sending a message that Texas is not alone in its fight for freedom. These international relationships will help us navigate the road ahead and prepare for the future beyond the Union.
Shaping State Policy on Key Issues
The policies advocated by TNM are beginning to take root in state governance. In 2024, the Governor of Texas adopted several key proposals from TNM to address the crisis at the border. These policies are designed to give Texas more control over its border security, enabling the state to protect its citizens without waiting on Washington to act.
This development shows that the ideas TNM has long championed are becoming part of mainstream policy discussions in Texas. Texans have seen for years how the federal government has failed to manage the border effectively, and the state’s adoption of TNM-supported policies reflects a growing realization that Texas needs to take matters into its own hands. These policies not only address an immediate crisis but also demonstrate that Texas is capable of handling complex issues on its own.
The influence of TNM’s ideas extends beyond just border security. The movement’s broader goals of self-determination and state sovereignty are gaining traction, showing that independence is not only a political movement but also a practical solution to many of the challenges Texas faces. As these ideas take hold in policy discussions, it becomes clear that the state’s future could look very different from its past.
Engaging Texans Across the State
One of the most encouraging trends this year has been the growth in TNM’s supporter and volunteer numbers. Texans from all walks of life are joining the movement, attending events, volunteering their time, and helping to spread the message of Texit in their communities. This growing base of support is a key part of the movement’s strategy to engage Texans and build a network of advocates for independence.
Volunteers are crucial to the success of TNM’s efforts on the ground. They are the ones organizing events, making phone calls, and recruiting new members to the cause. As the number of supporters grows, so does the movement’s ability to reach more Texans and involve them in the fight for independence. The engagement of these volunteers reflects the growing belief among Texans that independence is a viable option and that the state’s future could be brighter outside of the Union.
Keeping Up the Momentum
As we look ahead to the November presidential election and the 2025 legislative session, it’s clear that the work TNM has done this year is laying the groundwork for what’s to come. The media coverage, political gains, and grassroots growth we’ve achieved in 2024 are all essential parts of a larger strategy to secure Texas’ future.
The filing of TIRA in November will mark the next phase of our efforts, but we must stay focused and committed in the months leading up to that moment. Expanding our county organizations, strengthening our relationships with international independence movements, and continuing to engage with policymakers are all crucial steps in preparing for the legislative battles ahead.
The time to act is now. Every new supporter, every volunteer, and every event brings us closer to making Texit a reality. The road to independence requires sustained effort and dedication from every part of the movement. Together, we can build a Texas that is free, sovereign, and capable of determining its own destiny.
Let’s keep pushing forward. There is much to do, and the future of Texas depends on our actions today.
