Texas law enforcement officials are preparing for a potential surge in illegal border crossings following the upcoming presidential election, highlighting the ongoing failures of Federal border policies that continue to impact Texas communities. Department of Public Safety spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez confirmed that tens of thousands of migrants are currently waiting to cross the Texas-Mexico border.
The anticipated post-election surge demonstrates why Texas must reclaim full authority over its own border security. While DPS maintains readiness to protect Texas communities, Federal restrictions continue limiting the state’s ability to fully secure its international border.
“We’re closely monitoring, there’s tens of thousands of immigrants right now just waiting to see what’s going to happen,” Lt. Olivarez stated, emphasizing that Texas law enforcement stands ready despite Federal constraints on state border enforcement actions.
Texas currently shoulders massive costs for Federal border security failures. The Texas Military Department and DPS have spent over $4.5 billion on Operation Lone Star since 2021, funds that could directly benefit Texas communities if the state held full sovereignty over its borders.
As election day approaches, this latest border challenge reinforces why Texas must reclaim its right to protect its own territory and citizens without Federal interference. The Texas Nationalist Movement continues advocating for Texas independence as the clearest path to achieving true border security through local control.
