As President of the Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM), I stand compelled to voice our concern and strong condemnation of the impeachment proceedings initiated by the Texas House against Attorney General Ken Paxton.
This impeachment act is a flagrant violation of due process. The concerns raised in the impeachment articles are under judicial consideration or have already been addressed by our justice system. It’s deeply troubling to witness the Texas House and the General Investigating Committee seek to bypass this judicial process in what appears to be a politically motivated maneuver.
Attorney General Ken Paxton was elected by the people of Texas to be their defender against Federal overreach in accordance with Article 1, Section 2 of the Texas Constitution. His office has remained resolute on the frontlines of our state’s critical issues, addressing the border crisis, ensuring election integrity, and defending our state’s rights, even as the Texas House has lagged in these areas. This impeachment move, seemingly born out of personal and political vendetta, undermines the very essence of our Constitutional provision and disrespects the will of the Texans who elected him into office.
This scenario becomes even more concerning when considering the same Texas House’s repeated disregard of Texans’ constitutionally protected right to alter, reform, or abolish their government – as demonstrated in their refusal to put TEXIT to a vote. Any Representative eager to advance an impeachment while denying the people their right to a say in their governance raises questions about their commitment to true representation.
The impeachment process is not a tool for political vendettas but a safeguard against corruption and wrongdoing. The apparent misuse of this procedure undermines our principles of justice and democracy.
Since 2005, the Texas Nationalist Movement has acted as a steadfast watchdog for Texas, ensuring accountability for our elected officials and institutions. Our commitment to justice, good governance, and due process remains strong, and we apply this standard to all, regardless of their political alignment.
We believe that if the Texas House wishes to restore honor and integrity to our government, they must respect due process and the voice of the people. The path to credibility is not paved with political manipulations but with a commitment to upholding democratic principles.
We at TNM will continue to advocate for the rights and will of the Texan people, as enshrined in our Constitution. We implore the Texas House to respect these principles, abandon its political machinations, and genuinely represent the people who elected them.
